Music Mix-up Post 3

I woke up sick this morning.... The nasty, hateful cold that has been going around my house has decided that I am it's next victim.  I was so tired, I almost forgot that today was Thursday and I had to put a song up.  I had an idea for it the other day, but this morning, I simply couldn't think of anything.  And then, while I was sitting there, trying to remember what song I liked (tells you just about how brain-dead I was!) I remembered that earlier this week I had found my soundtrack to the Feature Film for Families movie "Rigoletto," and had been listening to it almost all week. Making decisions is hard when I don't feel good, but I finally managed to pick one song from it for this week.  So without further ado, may I present to you "The Melody Within," from "Rigoletto."

"The Melody Within," is one of my favorite songs from this movie, the other one being "Let Me In."  I could listen to this song over and over and over.  I first saw this movie at my Aunt Lindann's house when we were visiting her many years ago.  I immediately fell completely in love with "Rigoletto."  It is so much like "Beauty and the Beast," which is another one of my favorites, but more on that at another time. :)  "The Melody Within" is such a moving song, calling to each of us to look beyond the surface of people and listen to their hearts.  Everyone has a song in their soul, and only in Love can one hear it truly.  And, if you listen closely, the second time she sings the song, you can hear "The Curse" in the music.  Such a beautiful combination. :)

Music Mix-up Post 2

I was going to put this blog post up earlier today, but the internet has been down all day..... But, as they always say, better late than never, right?  Although sometimes, I'm not so sure that that isn't entirely true.... However, I digress.  It is much too late for a philosophical rambling post.  Especially since this post is about a song.  I have spent a while trying to decide what song to do, considering that this week was Valentine's Day.  I had it narrowed down to two, and I just couldn't decide, so I decided to do them both. :)  So, the first one is "So Close," by Jon McLaughlin, from the movie "Enchanted."

The first time I saw the cartoon part of this movie, I thought, "Oh my word, this is SO lame!!!"  But then as the movie went on, though, I fell in love with it.  And this song is one of my absolute favorites. :D  And sometimes it seems quite true... We get so close to something but, sometimes, close just isn't good enough...

And, for song number two, I just had to go with "Only Hope," sung by Mandy Moore, from the movie "A Walk to Remember."

If you have never seen "A Walk to Remember" then I would recommend that you watch it!  This music video contains clips from the movie.  It makes me want to cry...  The first time I saw the movie, I must confess that I started crying about half way through and didn't stop, even when the movie was over. :/

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day.  And have a wonderful weekend.  I'm going to go and eat my Oreos and drink my milk while I finish watching North and South.  Oh, and I'm going to go to a ball on Saturday!  I'm so excited!! :)

Valentine's Day....

Valentine's Day... A day that is supposed to be spent with your significant other...
Or, as some are painfully aware... A reminder that one is "lacking" a significant other....
The question is.... how can one person "lack" something if God has seen fit to not allow it?  Can you "lack" a significant other?  This year I have been really challenged in my own heart to open my eyes and look around me... and I've realized a couple of things...
First - I'm really and truly blessed.  I have a loving mother and father who support me and want me to be all that God wants me to be.  I have wonderful siblings and amazing friends.  Who am I to complain?  Or question where God has me?
Second, who knows what tomorrow may bring?  What if I've wasted the time that could have been spent being with and enjoying those who are in my life today and something happens and I don't get a second chance?
And lastly, God is Love.  He is my Everything.  Isaiah says, "For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, who is called the God of all the earth." (Isaiah 54:5)  If I truly believe that, then I am most definitely not lacking in anything.
So, today, I just want to encourage you all to love your Heavenly Father.  He always gives good gifts to His children.  And love those who are in your life today.    They may not be there tomorrow....

Music Mix-up

Music.... The heart-beat of our lives.... when we can't find what we want to say, a song usually does.  Music touches out hearts, stirs our emotions... it can cause us to weep, or to laugh.  It can make us think, appreciate what we have, encourage us in our daily lives, or just simply bring a smile to our faces.  Music.... To some it might just be a five letter word, but to me, music is so much more...
I was thinking the other day about some of my favorite songs, and I got an idea for a series.  Every Thursday I will attempt (I say attempt because I have no idea what life is actually going to look like :D ) to post a video of one of my favorite songs, and say a little something about why this song is special to me.  And I invite you all to join in.... Let's mix up the music a bit.
I have though long and hard about what the first song should be... The first of anything is usually the hardest part... Once you have something going, it is easy to keep it going.  Anyway, I digress.  I thought about picking a "new" song, but decided that I'd go with one of my old-time favorites:  El Shaddai, sung by Amy Grant.

El Shaddai has always been on of my favorite songs.  I think I first heard it when I was six or seven, and fell in love with it.   It reminds me of how God is always near, always watching, and yet, at the same time, He is El Shaddai - God Almighty.  Set to beautiful music, this song is a classic, and one that I will always treasure.  I hope you enjoy it, and I look forward to hearing your favorite songs!

Ramblings from Jasmine

Well, Christy has been so busy lately that she has hardly had any time to get on the computer, and when she does, she is usually trying to do three other things at once, so I thought I'd take a few moments and jump on here for her.  Who am I?  Well, my name is Jasmine, my friends call me Jaz, and I'm the main character in her latest creation, "The Morbid Murderess."
Now, I just have to say, in my own defense, I didn't murder anyone intentionally.  Honestly.  And, technically, I didn't murder anyone.  So, I'm a little confused as to why she picked that title.  All I did was run over a frog.  Okay, okay.  I ran over two!  But it was dark!  I didn't see them.  And now I'm stuck.  How the heck am I supposed to find my Prince Charming now that I've run them all over?
Excuse me, what in the world do you think you are doing?
Well, Christy was busy so I thought I'd help her out by posting a blog post for her.  Who are you?
I'm Sarah, and it's my job to help Christy out.  Who are you?
  I'm Jasmine.  I'm one of Christy's characters.
Yeah, well guess what, Jasmine, I was one of Christy's first characters.  You don't even have a whole chapter to your name yet.
Well, it isn't my fault that she hasn't had time to work on my story!  And just because you came first doesn't mean that your story is better than mine.  She hasn't finished your story either!
Girls, girls, settle down!  I'm sure there is a way that we could figure this out.
  Beth, what are you doing?
  Wait, you know her?
Yeah, she is another one of Christy's characters.  From "Becoming Elizabeth."
But her name is Elizabeth.  How does she become Elizabeth?
I become Elizabeth Bennet.  But that is beside the point.  Now, why in the world are you two fighting?  It is totally out of character for the both of you.  You especially, Sarah.  I'm disappointed.  Neither one of you are behaving out of love, are you?
I'm sorry, Bethy.  You are right.  I don't know what came over me.
Yeah, me too.  I'm sorry.  I never meant to get into a fight.
Now, are you two going to finish the blog post together, or do I just need to finish it?  But you'd better hurry, because it is getting late, and she is going to go to bed soon.
Well, then, in that case, I'd better wrap it up.  Christy will hopefully come and post a real post soon, but in the meantime, she is busy working, taking Sean to therapy on some days, and class.  Tomorrow she is going to be working at MOPS with her sisters.  She has also learned to knit, and is in the process of making a really pretty scarf.
Oh, don't forget about her ball gown!  She's almost finished with that too!
Oh, yes, it looks absolutely gorgeous!! I'm hoping she puts pictures up soon.
Oh, right, thank you!  I'm sure she will.
    Keeping it lively,
       Jasmine, Sarah, and Beth
